Who we are

Empowering communities, creating lasting change.

Arise & Shine Global Foundation empowers displaced and underserved communities by mobilizing essential resources, closing gaps in housing and education, and championing fundamental human rights.

Driven by her own immigration journey, Tsion B. Michael co-founded the Foundation alongside her father, whose courageous sacrifice for the Eritrean liberation movement set her story in motion. It carries forward their conviction that freedom and dignity are worth fighting for.

Our mission

To champion the cause of vulnerable populations by driving comprehensive immigration and refugee reforms, promoting fair employment practices, and cultivating global leadership and cooperation. Through relentless advocacy and collaboration with international bodies, we aim to create a more just and inclusive world.

Our vision

To be a global advocate for social justice, leading efforts in immigration policy reform, refugee support, and employment rights, while fostering international cooperation and leadership through impactful UN initiatives.

Our work

Three pillars, one purpose.

Each pillar addresses a point where vulnerable people are held back: at the border, at work, and at the tables where global decisions are made.

Immigration & Refugee Policy Reform

Pressing for comprehensive reforms that protect people seeking safety and a new beginning.

  • Policy advocacy for fair, humane immigration systems
  • Support for refugees navigating resettlement
  • Raising the voices of displaced communities

Fair Employment for Vulnerable Populations

Two decades of HR leadership and labor and employment law, applied to workplace fairness.

  • Promoting fair hiring and pay practices
  • Education on worker rights and protections
  • Guidance for employers who want to hire inclusively

Global Leadership & Cooperation

Partnerships with the UN and international civil society so local needs shape global policy.

  • Engagement with UN migration networks
  • Collaboration with peer NGOs and coalitions
  • Developing leaders who serve their communities
